6.9. Catalytic converter

GENERAL INFORMATION

For decrease in emissions in the atmosphere of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen all cars considered in the management are equipped with the converter with the single-layer catalyst providing decomposition of the specified three components due to oxidation-reduction reactions, turning them into harmless nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water.

The catalytic converter is mounted in an exhaust system, its fastening almost does not differ from fastening of the muffler.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Periodically check a condition of flange fastenings of the converter to an exhaust pipe. Be convinced of reliability of an inhaling of bolts and of lack of leak of gases in a joint place.
2. Before an otvorachivaniye of bolts of fastening of the converter (are specified by shooters) surely dig in them the getting liquid.
3. Check integrity of a guard of the converter. If on a guard there are dents or deformations because of which the guard concerns the converter case, repair or replace a guard.
4. Check integrity of the heat-insulating screen (1). Be convinced that between the screen and the converter there is a necessary interval.
