Repair and operation of the car

The cars considered in this manual are equipped with several systems of decrease in toxicity of exhaust gases. Concrete execution of system of environment protection is defined by the territory of sale of the car (cm. rice. Structures of systems of decrease in toxicity and engine management (for engines of 1,8 l)). Treat the specified systems:
       – system of compulsory ventilation of a case PCV system);
       – system of catching of vapors of gasoline (EVAP system);
       – system of recirculation of exhaust gases (EGR system);
       – threefold catalytic converter (TWC);
       – system of electronic injection of fuel (EFI system).

Sections of this chapter consist of the general description, the description of methods of checks which it is possible to execute independently, and descriptions of a replacement procedure of details of the specified systems (at possibility of replacement).

Before drawing a conclusion on malfunction of system of decrease in toxicity carefully check work of fuel system (see section 5) and systems of ignition (see subsection 3.3.4). For diagnostics of some devices of system of decrease in toxicity certain skills, and also special tools and the equipment are required. If it becomes clear that check and repair of system cannot be executed independently, address in a workshop of car service of the dealer, or in a specialized workshop.

It, however, does not mean that service and repair of system of decrease in toxicity is difficult and remote procedure. You can quickly and easily execute a set of checks and procedures for periodic service of systems by means of a standard tool kit and measuring devices.

The most common cause of malfunctions in system of decrease in toxicity are caused by easing or damage of electric sockets or vacuum hoses therefore first of all check a condition of these details.
